Why use the Juniper Vlabs for the Juniper JNCIA

Let’s face it trying to get physical equipment to lab with for the Juniper JNCIA can be very expensive I mean if you’re using Cisco equipment for the Cisco CCNA then you’re laughing all the way to the bank cause a lot of their end of life switches and routers are cheap as chips however the case cannot be said for juniper equipment barring the end of life firewalls like the Juniper SRX110 which is quite limited for use in study.

The next option to practise for your juniper studies is to go down the virtualised route but this does contain a few small hurdles firstly if you’re using GNS3 or EVE-NG then you need to provide your own juniper images and unless you have an account with juniper this can become problematic as it’s the only legal way to obtain these,

Fortunately juniper will provide evaluation images if you register as a student on their learning portal and provide a discount on your Juniper JNCIA JN0-104 exam.

Even if you are able to get the images from juniper you may find that you do not have the resources available on your own devices to run the image’s in a virtualised environment and in which case the Juniper Vlabs fantastic alternative.

Juniper Vlabs for the Juniper JNCIA JN0-104 Possible Downsides

The Juniper Vlabs allow you to study your juniper JNCIA certification using virtualised devices on their own hosted platform meaning that you are not using your own equipment apart from a web browser there are a few downsides to this

Firstly the maximum length of time you can reserve the lab is 6 hours and after which time you will need to rebook a new lab however you can copy your convictions over to new lab and carry on where you left off.

Second issue with the Juniper Vlabs is you are unable to change the topology so whatever physical connections are present is all you can use,

The same is that you can’t add additional nodes to the lab for you to use, however the amount of labs open to you is quite vast so if you want a a different topology then the Juniper Vlabs actually has them there for you.

If you go through the amount of topologies that have been made available, you should easily be able to find a lab that will be able to encompass all of the training that you want to do an again for the Juniper JNCIA exam.
