Overview of the Juniper Vlabs for Juniper Training
Juniper training like all technical training requires one to do pratical labs to allow the subject matter to be truly learned, however this often requires phyical hardware or a good quality computer for virtulisation.
Using the Juniper Vlabs for juniper training is both free and easy to access from any PC as long as you have access to a web browser and stable internet connection.
Juniper Vlabs allows you to use each lab for a mamimum of 6 hours and to be honest most people only lab for 1 to 2 hours at a time so this limit is fair in my opinion,
Unlike the Cisco DevNet labs you do not need to use a VPN to access the topology which is great if you want to use the Juniper Vlabs at work because most work computers dont allow you to use 3rd party softwear.
What Labs can be used on the Juniper Vlabs Portal
Depending on what you want to test there are many different labs that you can use, Juniper Vlabs contain prebuilt labs for Routing, Switching, Security and Automation and for Management as shown below
The Standalone labs contain all that is needed to work on one device and is very helpful for the Juniper JNCIA as in that course you will be working on navagaiting the device so a laege topologi is not required.
The Routing labs are fantastic as they contain all that is required to test OSPF single area and multi area, IS-IS single area and multiarea, BGP and segment routing and these are best used for the Jnuiper JNCIS and Juniper JNCIP studies.
Switching is difficult to to do at home so the inclusion of dedicated switching labs is great, EVPN-VXLAN labs ate the Data Centre Apstra are included as well as RSTP – spanning tree and standard Vlans make this great doe the JNCIS Service Provider, JNCIS Enterprice courses
The Juniper Security and Automation tracs are also covered with dedicated labs and I have used the Automation one myself for my Juniper JNCIA DevOps training and I recommend them as 1st class
Lastly the Network management section of the Juniper Vlabs is provided is you want to study Juniper SD-Wan and have hand on learning with the Juniper NorthStar Controller or Junipers Apstra
So as we can see the Juniper Vlabs is very flexible and covers all the Juniper Certification tracks and best of all it is free to use.
